Prices are list prices in US dollars. Checkout shows your local currency when available, and Paddle, our merchant of record, calculates any sales tax or VAT. Your coding agent has its own subscription or API costs; v8 does not change them. See Pricing to buy.
When limits reset
- Daily free limits reset at 00:00 UTC.
- Weekly limits, on every plan, reset on Monday at 00:00 UTC.
v8-prompt status shows your plan and, on the free plan, how many prompts are left this week and today. On Pro and Team, the Account page shows this week's use.
What counts
- One request is one advanced prompt, whether or not you answer v8's questions. The follow-up with your answers is free.
- Unchanged text is not counted, up to 20 times a day per terminal (per account once linked). See When your text comes back.
- A rejected request is not counted. If the service is busy, wait a few seconds and try again.
- The shortcut,
v8-prompt improveand/v8:promptshare one allowance. Scripts and CI steps through the official CLI are fine within it; reselling, sharing an account and getting around limits are not (see the Terms).
Short-term limits on attempts per hour also apply, more generous for paid plans, so a script stuck in a retry loop cannot use up an allowance or slow the service for others. Avoid automatic retries in a tight loop.
Shared networks
The free plan is per terminal, so it is protected against people creating terminals in bulk. On a shared network, such as an office or a university, only the first few new terminals each day get the free plan, and free use is limited per network. A terminal that says "Free prompts aren't available on this terminal" can still be used with Pro or a Team seat: run v8-prompt login.
Team seats
Create a team at console.v8labs.app, invite teammates by email and buy seats (3 to 150). Owners and admins decide who holds a seat and can move it at any time; adding or removing seats is prorated. Each member links their own terminals with v8-prompt login, using the email address the invitation went to. Owners and admins see each member's usage counts, never prompts or code.
Billing, cancelling, refunds
- Payment is handled by Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Invoices are on your Billing page.
- Switching between monthly and yearly is prorated: you only pay the difference.
- Cancel anytime from your account (Billing and invoices). You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.
- Refunds: a full refund within 14 days of your first payment or an annual renewal. Monthly renewals are not covered: cancel before the next one. A refund ends Pro right away. The refund policy has the details.
- A failed renewal: your Account and Billing pages say so. Pro stays on while Paddle retries the charge, and "Update card and pay" on the Billing page settles it.
Larger teams
More than 150 seats, invoicing, SSO or a security review? Talk to us. SSO, a contractual SLA and dedicated hosting are only included when agreed in writing.
